It is based on Ken Bruen's novel of 2001 of the same name, with screenplay and direction by William Monahan, marking his directorial debut. Numerous plot points are identical to those in the Billy Wilder film Sunset Boulevard. He had long, greasy hair down to his shoulders. The characters are more complex, the story ends in a much more true-to-noir way, and its a more realistic story. LONDON BOULEVARD is a sort-of adaptation of SUNSET BOULEVARD displaced to (guess) London, and it's a well-written, fast-moving, and stylish neo-noir.
